    I think that here in the U.S., “the pulpit” does not carry the degree of influence it once did–as may have been the case in Susan B..Anthony’s time, and therefore cannot be called the “worst enemy of women” today. The fact that the Republican frontrunner for the presidency gets away with speech denigrating women (and immigrants, etc.), suggests to me that the “worst enemy” of women may be “at large” in the mainstream culture.

    Not as true when women are in the pulpit, too, when they are not denied their voices and leadership as partners in the mission.
