On Winter’s Wings: An Advent resource

In this season, when our hearts are heavy
and we oscillate between rage and despair,
we pause and look close.
We are washed over by the wind in the white pine,
startled by the stars in the night sky,
and saved by the cardinal standing in the snow.
These are the days to nestle in
when we need to remember
how gloriously small we are
in the ecosystem of creation.
Let us fall in love with the wisdom and beauty
of creatures who could not help
but turn us all into poets.

Dear Radical Discipleship community,

It has been one of our great delights to have stumbled upon making daily Advent books with Geez magazine. This tradition has roots with the Radical Discipleship community since we made a version or two with this beautiful circle. We have loved feeling the hunger and resonance in our community for such a resource. It has been good for our souls and we feel connected knowing that hundreds of folks far and wide have been reading them together.

This year, we put out the call for each piece to be earth focused. The responses were gorgeous, and to our beautiful surprise almost all of the submissions were poetry. So, this stunning full colour book of poetry is filled with blue herons and crashing waves, soft snow and maple trees.

Praying them in community:

While we delight in the simple knowing that hundreds are reading these across Turtle Island each year, we have decided to experiment with an option for folks to connect. This year, you’re invited to an online gathering to read the daily reflection together. Every day of Advent, we will open a zoom link at Noon ET (11am CT, 10am MT, 9am PT) for fifteen minutes. We will have a variety of facilitators guiding us through the daily reading, a time of silence, and closing by summoning the prayers of the community. You are welcome to join for any or all days. We will send more details with the booklets.

Ordering:

Order soon in order to receive them by the time Advent begins!

$20 each ($15 for bulk rates if you want to use them with your communities, churches, families)

We hope you love it as much as we do!
